The Problem With Using AI in Your Personal Life
Using LLMs to talk with your friends is efficient. My friend recently attended a funeral, and midway through the eulogy, he became convinced that it had been written by AI. There was the telltale proliferation of abstract nouns, a surfeit of assertions that the deceased was "not just --he was " coupled with a lack of concrete anecdotes, and more appearances of the word than you would expect from a rec-league hockey teammate. It was both too good, in terms of being grammatically correct, and not good enough, in terms of being particular. My friend had no definitive proof that he was listening to AI, but his position--and I agree with him--is that when you know, you know. His sense was that he had just heard a computer save a man from thinking about his dead friend.
Apple Is Bringing A.I. to Your Personal Life, Like It or Not
Last week, Apple held its Worldwide Developers Conference, the annual event that is often used to showcase the company's most significant innovations. Much of the presentation this year was devoted to A.I., or, as the company is branding it, Apple Intelligence. Whereas Google and Microsoft have leaped headlong into A.I. with their Gemini and OpenAI products, respectively, Apple is so far taking a narrower approach. The A.I. model it is unveiling on iPhone hardware is relatively weak. A.I. models are measured on their number of "parameters," or the variables adjusted during the training process; while OpenAI's GPT-4 has more than one and a half trillion parameters, Apple's model has three billion.

The World May Have Its First Sentient AI
The World may now have the first sentient AI chatbot called LaMDA (short for Language Model for Dialogue Applications). After listening to an interesting discussion on YouTube between Blake Lemoine and Dr James Cooke, I feel Blake has a compelling point of view. Jump to 19:22 in the video to listen to how Blake came to feel that LaMDA may be sentient. Blake Lemoine is an AI Researcher who works for Google's Responsible AI organization. Blake's opinion about LaMDA is controversial among the AI community.
Happy update.
There was just a lot happening in my personal life in this last period. I've been always studying but I forgot about blogging for a while. I've did amazing progress on my road to becoming a data scientist. I've spent about 4 months on that company. It really was a good company, it was more like a startup size company.

AI recreates actor Val Kilmer's voice that was lost to throat cancer
A British artificial intelligence (AI) company has recreated Hollywood actor Val Kilmer's voice – with amazingly realistic results. London-based firm Sonantic used the actor's voice recordings from throughout his career, which were fed to their AI to create the lifelike yet artificial mock-up. Film producers could potentially use the tool – described as'Photoshop for voice' – for voiceovers if they have a role in mind that would be suited to Kilmer's tones. Kilmer, whose career has spanned nearly four decades, has starred in blockbusters such as Top Gun, Willow, The Doors, Tombstone and Batman Forever. But after undergoing a tracheotomy in 2014 as part of his treatment for throat cancer, Kilmer's voice is now barely recognisable.

How is AI revolutionizing FX market in a way we didn't even realize
The foreign exchange or forex market is the biggest financial market in the world. It is even bigger than the stock market. Moreover, the forex market continues to grow, and one major reason for this is the use of the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence. In fact, it wouldn't be wrong to say that AI is revolutionizing forex trading. According to the 2019 Triennial Central Bank Survey of FX and OTC Derivatives Markets, the forex market has a daily volume of $6.6 trillion. When so much money is at stake, it is natural for market participants to demand and develop tools that help to reduce their risk and increase their accuracy.
3 intelligent apps that make you more productive today
Over the last years, I've been developing a very intensive daily routine, trying to balance my personal life as a father-of-three-daughters and a relatively active and multitasking enterprise professional. And one thing that helps keep my productivity level up is leveraging the right technology to support me in every task. With this mindset, I've started to use dozens of applications, mostly mobile apps, that help me to get things done faster and with quality, allowing me to have more time in my day for the things I need and love to do. Also, I have been following different productivity philosophies, always thinking that I should not do more than I have to. After all, what I've concluded is that one of the best ways to increase my efficiency at work and in my personal life is to cut out things that don't need to be done in the first place. Therefore, in general, my advice is not to choose apps and tools only because they look fancy but choose those that can help you cut out everything unnecessary, allowing you to focus on solely what you need the most.

What to expect for Mixed Reality in 2018
Wow, it's hard to believe that we are two months into 2018. Every January I head to Brazil to visit my family. It is a wonderful stretch of connection, reflection, and time with those closest to me. During this annual trip I think a lot about the year that was and the year that will be. I always return inspired, focused, and eager for what's next.
